Dear Emergency Care Students,

As we notified you earlier this week, due to recent health concerns, Emergency Care Programs is actively monitoring the situation and has instituted additional safety protocols to keep our students and staff safe during this time. As such, we have instituted new safety protocols according to stringent infection prevention protocols. Our facility maintenance teams have increased the frequency with which they sanitize and clean public spaces and classroom surfaces throughout our facilities.

Regarding your concerns about the program continuity and your certification, we have made the decision to remain open during this time with the following implications:

1.      ECP will be closed for classes starting Sunday 3/15/20 through Tuesday 3/17/20. Only new classes beginning during those days will open for orientation. Proper precautions will be taken to maintain student safety. No other scheduled courses will run on these days. This will allow ECP to prepare faculty, students and staff to prepare for Distance Learning for didactic lectures.

2.      Starting on Wednesday, March 18th, most instruction will resume in Distance-Learning mode and will remain so until further notice. Students will receive emails on how to access the Zoom app for online lectures.

3.      ECP will be contacting students regarding Practical Skills “labs” which will continue to run in mandated “smaller groups” at our facilities. We will contact classes individually to arrange updated schedules.

4.      ECP Main Office will remain open and fully functional during this time. All questions and inquiries are welcome and we are here to support and help our students.

5.      Please keep an eye out for additional emails so you receive further details regarding the upcoming changes. If you haven’t received any emails, please check your spam folder.

We are continuing to work diligently to ensure the best outcome for all our students and will be adjusting our curriculums to make sure you receive the training required. As a result, some classes may have their State Exam date delayed until the current situation is resolved and the course requirements are completed.

Student and staff safety is our top priority. As this is an ever changing situation, we will continue to update our students as we continue to monitor information from the New York State Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC).
