Adult CPR & Automated External Defibrillator Course (CPR – AED) 4 hrs

Training for those seeking to obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults. Course content includes:

  • Using the EMS system 
  • Identifying and controlling risk factors for cardiovascular disease 
  • Adult CPR, Choking Skills & Techniques
  • When to use an AED
  • Automated External Defibrillator Training – proper use and safety

Infant & Child CPR Courses 4 hrs 
Designed for those who care for children, either full time or occasionally, this course teaches participants how to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children from newborn to adulthood. Course content includes:

  • Using the EMS system 
  • Child safety presentation 
  • Infant and Child CPR
  • Infant & Child Choking Skills & Techniques

Community CPR & AED Course 6 hrs

This course is designed for those who have contact with Adults, Children and Infants. It teaches the skills needed for dealing with their cardiac and breathing emergencies. This course includes everything from both the Adult CPR & AED Course and Infant & Child CPR Course.

Professional Rescuer CPR Course (BLS) 8 hrs 
This course teaches skills necessary for a professional rescuer to provide care during cardiac & respiratory emergencies. This course is appropriate for health care professionals as well as those entrusted with public safety. Course content includes:

  • Being a part of the EMS system
  • Adult, Child & Infant CPR, Choking Skills & Techniques
  • When to use an AED
  • AED – proper use and safety
  • Recognition of medical emergencies
  • Professional Rescuer Skills with Airway Adjuncts

Standard First Aid, CPR & Automated External Defibrillator 8 hrs

This course builds on the Community CPR & AED Course. It includes all phases offered there plus how to deal with first aid emergencies. In addition, it teaches early recognition of developing medical problems. First Aid content includes the management of:

  • Bites and Stings
  • Bleeding
  • Burns
  • Fractures
  • Shock
  • Spinal injury
  • Head trauma
  • Medical emergencies
  • Heat/Cold emergencies
  • Poisoning

Advanced First Aid / Wilderness Course (RTE) 8-16 hrs
Designed for those entrusted with safety of others such as camp workers & directors.. This program includes everything contained in both the Professional Rescuer CPR Course & Standard First Aid Course. In addition, a deeper understanding and recognition of medical & traumatic emergencies is taught. Also included are advanced first aid skills and techniques.

All training follows & meets 2015 Guidelines for CPR & ECC. Emergency Care Programs, is an official training agency of The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) - Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI), The National Safety Council (NSC), The American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), an affiliate of the Maimonides Medical Center/American Heart Association (AHA) Community Training Center, and a certified course sponsor of CFR and EMT-B training for the NY State Department of Health, Bureau of EMS (NYS BEMS).
